Week 4 EOC; My App

The app that I would create would be called Hold It. In this app there is only one button that you press and hold. A timer then starts and you see how long you can keep your finger in the button. You will even be able to connect online with your friends and do multiplayer contests to see who can hold out the longest. This game is essentially pointless, but the game does have a moral lesson. The game develops the virtue patience and also hones in someone’s concentration. Since this is a pointless game, the app will be free for everyone to download, with no in-app purchases. I think that this app will thrive, even though it has no real plot. People look to apps not to get in an involved story-line, but to occupy their time long enough for something interesting to transpire. And more and more of people are getting smart phones that can have apps programmed on to them.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good

The Company that I chose is called Project 7. Project 7 is a company that sells gum and mints that gives back to 7 areas of need. “Little purchases when added up, can pull many people together and make life changing impacts every day of the week,” (http://project7.com/pages/mission). To this day Project 7 has planted 3.7 Million trees back into the Earth, “More than an acre of rainforest is lost every second. From global warming to the extinction of plant and animal species, the consequences of deforestation are far reaching,” (http://project7.com/pages/save-the-earth). They have given out 3.1 Million meals in the U.S., 1.1 Million hours of education, 1.2 Million hours of shelter for people in need, 1.2 Million months of clean water, “More then one billion people worldwide lack a basic supply of clean drinking water,” (http://project7.com/pages/quench-the-thirsty). Project 7 has also helped 33,000 students go through anti-bullying Programs and 100 thousand through Malaria treatments. The company was started by Tyler Merrick. Tyler found himself at professional crossroads wanting to help more people through his business endeavors and be a catalyst for change in a continually inward consumer centric culture. He thought if people are going to but things, lots of things, then let’s use those things they purchase to help change the world around us. Let’s make everyday products for everyday people to solve everyday problems around the globe. And in 2008 , Tyler Merrick became a Social Entreprenuer and Project 7 was born; a company dedicated to making ‘ Products for Good.’

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group

Star- Mobile Apps, “A hybrid app is first coded like a website, using industry-standard Web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This platform-independent code is then "wrapped" inside a native container that allows the app to access platform-specific features and to be distributed and installed like a native app.”(http://www.ibm.com) This shows that there is still more development that can be done on apps and that people are demanding that they be made.

Cash Cow- Playstation 4, “And the industry hasn’t topped its spending pinnacle of 2009 when console gamers bought $14.1 billion on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. DFC Intelligence video game analyst David Cole believes the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U spending will peak at about $12 billion by 2016.”(http://www.forbes.com) The PS4 is in high demand not only for its gaming capabilities, but also for its video capabilities. Although it is in high demand it is unclear if there will be a PS5, meaning that this type of gaming might be coming to an end.

Question Mark- Computer games, “Like consoles, the PC gaming market is as strong as it’s ever been, and while there is certainly crossover between PC gamers and console players, one market is not poised to kill the other.”(http://www.forbes.com)

Dog- Xbox one, I put the Xbox One into this category because it made significantly less money than its rival, PS4. It was even compared to the profitability of the Xbox 360, in which the 360 made more money. Unlike Playstation the Xbox has never made a profit only breaking even on their budget.

EOC Week 1: My Voice

I am an Audio Engineer. I have always been passionate about music. When I was younger it was my only peaceful place. I never just listened to music I have always felt it. The great thing about music is that it is so intricate. Not just one word can describe music and that’s the beauty of it, it is different to each individual and each individual can get a different story from the same piece of music. My goals as an engineer have no bounds. I truly want it all, to mixing live bands, to doing stage productions, mixing in the studio, even fix broken equipment. It has always been my dream to be like the bands I listened to and watched as I grew up. To feel the energy they feel. To help someone through my music just like those bands did for me. My earliest start with sound would be in high school. I was in Technical Theater all four years, this is where my love for the world of technical work began. I was hooked instantly by my sophomore year I was the head lighting operator, which I quickly switched to the leader of all stagehands. My goal I have set for myself now is to work for a performance on the Las Vegas Strip.

EOC Week 1: Great Customer Service

"Marketing occurs when people decide to satisfy needs and wants through exchange relationships. Exchange is the act of obtaining a desired object from someone by offering something in return."(Marketing: An Introduction, P.7) I have this personal mechanic that I go to. He offers me great customer service, he is available anytime I call him, and he comes and picks me up from my house when I don't have a ride situated. He will also check other mechanics work when I need to go somewhere else to get work done. I never have to worry about my car leaving his shop not fixed which I'm sure you can all agree is a big relief when going to get your car repaired. He always fixes it on time and always gives me fair prices on the work that needs to be done. Because he has given me great service from the start I never think about going to someone else unless he tells me I need to do so. This should be the way every mechanic should operate, always be dependable and punctual and you will never run out of business. I used to have a 1986 Chevy Camaro, I took it to a shop to replace the brakes, I get the car back a day later and the somehow had damaged something in the coolant system and they didn’t inform me of it. I had coolant leaking onto the passenger floor board inside my car. I kept taking it back and the never figured out the problem and the engine eventually blew up. So needless to say I never went back to that establishment again because of their terrible service.
